Your students will gain valuable skills, HAVE FUN, and feel uplifted as their confidence
SOARS with KidzArt — a drawing-based art education program for “kids of all ages.”
Drawing on over 15 years of experience, KidzArt uses a simple teaching method that allows students to produce amazing works of art and gain exposure to a wide variety of art media.  We offer a kid-tested curriculum that stays fresh, grows with our students and is ever changing.  Our students are introduced to the world of visual arts in an encouraging environment that challenges the artistic student and reaches kids who never thought they could draw.

With KidzArt, your child will:
• Complete fun art projects that enhance his or her drawing skills and get great results.
• Learn in a non-competitive environment that allows creativity to flow easily.
• Use high quality art materials and supplies that are used by artists!
• Learn to think creatively — outside the box.
• Always be excited by the new curriculum offered weekly.
• Feel relaxed and open to learning new skills while having FUN.
• Learn to problem-solve effectively and easily.
• Build self-confidence.
• Gain a lifetime love of art!

Answers:

  1. KidzArt is a completely portable program.  We do not have our own studio.  We travel to locations around Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties to bring our classes to a convenient location for our parents.

We prefer to set up partnerships with schools to host classes immediately at the end of the school day.  We also host classes at community centers and recreation departments.

On our classes page, you will find a listing of our current partners.  If you don’t see a location near you, feel free to suggest a location to us.  We are always looking to add new locations.

  1. Because KidzArt is a drawing based program, designed to teach the fundamentals of 2 dimensional art, most of our projects will be created on paper.  A sample of our drawing media includes: Prismacolor markers, oil pastels, chalk pastels, watercolor, colored art pencils, charcoal, and Prismacolor Art Stix.

From time to time we will also introduce other 2D media.  Some examples include copper tooling, scratch art, silk painting, collage, printmaking, and tempera paint.
KidzArt uses only high quality, non-toxic supplies.

  1. Yes.  KidzArt projects NEVER repeat.  Students will never see the same curriculum twice.

  1. No.  KidzArt prefers to offer a wide variety of projects, so there will be something for everyone.  Within each session students will explore a variety of media and will create drawings of animals, landscapes, still life objects and more.

  1. We limit our class size to 15 students to ensure that all students receive enough encouragement and personalized attention.  At times we will also have an Instructor-in-Training assisting in classes.  (Some locations have a smaller classroom that may limit enrollment to 12 students.)

  1. After school classes are open to children in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

  1. If enrollment is large enough, we prefer to run two classes, K-2 and 3-5.  If one class is offered, our teacher to student ratio is very low, so we are able to ensure that younger /beginner students get extra attention and older / advanced students are given additional challenges.

  1. Each class is taught by a KidzArt certified instructor. Our certified instructors attend an extensive training in order to teach using the KidzArt method and to uphold our philosophy.  We only hire instructors who have experience working with children and a love of art.  Many are actually state certified teachers or are on their way to becoming one.

All instructors have undergone a pre-employment background check and are fingerprinted through the NY State Department of Education once hired.
